Sarcoma

Sarcoma — evaluation, second opinions, and coordinated care.

Sarcomas are uncommon cancers that begin in bone or soft tissue, and they're best treated at high-volume sarcoma centers with specialized expertise. Our role is to recognize a sarcoma early, get you a prompt evaluation and second opinion, and coordinate your care with the right specialized center — while staying involved close to home throughout.

How we approach it

Prompt evaluation

If you have a suspicious lump or mass, we can arrange imaging and the right biopsy quickly, so nothing is delayed while answers come together.

Connected to specialized centers

We refer to and coordinate with high-volume sarcoma programs, sharing imaging and pathology so your care transitions smoothly.

Care that stays close where it can

Parts of your treatment and ongoing follow-up can often happen near home, in step with your sarcoma team.

What the workup looks like

1
Recognizing it early

A new, deep, or growing soft-tissue lump deserves prompt imaging rather than watchful waiting — getting the right scan first protects your options.

2
The right biopsy, read by the right pathologist

Sarcoma diagnosis often depends on specialized pathology, so we make sure the biopsy is done and interpreted in a way that doesn't compromise later treatment.

3
Connecting you to a specialized center

We coordinate referral to an experienced sarcoma program and stay involved, so you keep a familiar team close to home throughout.

Common questions

Do you treat sarcoma here?
Most sarcoma treatment is led by specialized, high-volume centers, and we'll connect you with the right one. What we provide is prompt evaluation, a second opinion, and local coordination so you're not navigating a rare diagnosis alone.
Why does sarcoma need a specialized center?
Sarcomas are rare and include many subtypes that behave very differently. Centers that see them in volume have the surgical and multidisciplinary expertise that improves outcomes, which is why we refer.
Can I get a second opinion or initial workup with you?
Yes. If you've found a suspicious mass or have a new diagnosis and want experienced eyes on it, we're glad to see you quickly and help organize what comes next.
Can any of my care happen close to home?
Often, yes. Some treatment and much of the follow-up can be coordinated locally with your sarcoma center, so you're not always traveling for routine care.
