What to expect at your first visit

1
Records review

We gather and review your pathology, imaging, and history before you arrive, so your visit starts with answers, not paperwork.

2
Consultation

Unhurried time with your physician — bring your questions and a family member if you’d like.

3
Your plan

You leave with a clear plan: what happens next, when, where, and who to call with questions.

Common questions

What conditions does a hematologist treat?
Everything involving the blood: anemias, clotting and bleeding disorders, and blood cancers such as leukemia, lymphoma, and myeloma.
My primary doctor found something in my blood work — what happens next?
We review the results, repeat or expand testing in our own lab if needed, and explain what the numbers actually mean before discussing any next steps.
Does an abnormal blood test mean cancer?
Usually not. Most abnormal results have benign explanations — the point of seeing a hematologist is to find out quickly and stop worrying.
Will I need a bone marrow biopsy?
Only when it would genuinely change your diagnosis or treatment. If one is recommended, we’ll explain exactly why and what it involves.
